The end of an era...

As you have probably noticed, I have been doing quite a bit of retouching these past few weeks, and I think I'm slowly coming to the point where I feel that retouching is the way to go for me, which means that digital art - photomanipulating - is maybe not.

Yes, it seems to be the end of an era, my photomanipulating time is, at least for now, going to be left in the past, and the future is retouching.

I feel quite fine with it being this way, because my lack of inspiration to actually make art has been very strong for about a year now, and I've decided that I'll just stop fighting it, because it's not really working anyways.

I seem to see a lot of people in the community of photomanipulating who are, after a while, going in different directions, either to photography, digital painting, retouching and even traditional art. So I feel that maybe photomanipulating is a stepping stone, because in the time I have been doing art, I've learned so much, I've learned how to use Photoshop, I've learned that there's still things to learn, which I guess is the biggest lesson of all. I've got to know myself in a way that tells me where I want to go, and for a while now, it has been retouching that's clearly become my passion.

So, with this blog, I bid a very fond farewell to photomanipulating. I can't say that I'll never do art again, of course I would if inspiration hits again someday, or if future clients desire me to do something. Never say never, is what I'm trying to say, I guess.

Of course I hope that you, my lovely watchers and friends, will keep following my work. I plan to still do art features and will continue to appreciate all of you and the art you make, and I will keep my digital art up, it's not going anywhere, there just won't be much addition to it anymore.

Here are some of my retouches. I hope you like them :)

Thanks for adding my photo, "Leather Shadow" from the Daily Deviation, to your favourites.  I am glad that you like it enough to want to save it.

Mads, what do you think of Floor Janssen being the frontlady of Nightwish?

I'm very pleased that she got the job, because I think if she'd just been a temporary substitute, and NW would have had to find a fourth singer, it's just be too insane. Floor is very talented and I'm looking forward to hearing what Nightwish will sound like her with new songs written for her voice :)
